Day 8. Hiroshima

Hiroshima was established on the river delta coastline of the Sento island sea in 1589.
The hotel was a 4 star one, but the room was smaller than an average european 4 star hotel's bathroom.

The reason is very simple, the prices are extraordinary high, for example 1sqm private appartman if you want to buy on a good area costs 300 000 usd! Obviously they try to make things as small as possible, because the land is limited.

In the city we visited the memorial park and everything which related 8:15 a.m. On August 6, 1945.
I have already been to Pearl Harbour it was also a sad story, but interesting to know, that today these cities are sister cities! Approximately 80,000 people are killed as a direct result of the blast, and another 35,000 are injured. There were 90,000 buildings in Hiroshima before the bomb was dropped, only 28,000 remained after the bombing. The memorial museum is also a shocking place for visitors.

The other highlight of the day was the  Itsukushima shrine on the island of Miyajima, best known for its floating tori gate.
That was amazing, we took a 10 minutes ferry ride from the mainland, and some walk from the pier. Beside the fact that it was a heavy rain, it was worth to go, something unique, and must to see place.
It is not a coincidence that this is also a UNESCO World Heritage site.

It took 90 minutes to see everything and after we had a chance to taste the most favourite local food Okomomiyaki. WAW, this is a fantastic dish :) I hope it is possible to make it at home to compell my friends :). The ingridients are on the picture :).

Our Guide exceed my expectations, she was really super :)

After this busy day I went to Osaka by train to wait for a sunny city vagabondage.
